The Thespian Family Theatre & Productions with an overriding objective to be a change catalyst in our generation, in support of The Stand To End Rape Initiative brings to the stage, ‘Altine’s Wrath’ written by Femi Osofisan. This will be showing on Sunday 11th October and Friday 16th October at the National Theatre whilst the command performance is on Sunday 1st November 2015 at the AGIP Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan. ‘Altine’s Wrath’ is a glamorous talk show that takes a peep into the struggles in Altine and Lawal Jatau’s household. The play is directed by Cyril Nissi- George and starring Muyiwa Osinnaike, Zara Udofia, Omowunmi Dada and a host of brilliant stage icons.
Part proceeds from the play will be donated to the Stand to End Rape Initiative (STER), an advocacy organization which aims to raise awareness about the effects and stigma associated to rape, while providing practical suggestions to curb them and working to end all forms of rape through education, supporting survivors of rape and changing community perceptions towards sexual violence and abuse.
Speaking on the collaboration, Ayodeji Osowobi, Project Lead for STER Initiative says “We are always grateful for support from well-meaning projects and individuals in increasing awareness for our cause. Rape is an issue that people tend to shy away from, even though it destroys many lives every day, Victims of rape cannot talk about their experiences because of the stigmatization that is entrenched in our society, hence the need for us to speak up for them.’ Osowobi, who has a passion for gender issues, urges everyone to come out and show support for the cause by purchasing tickets and enjoying a day in the theater.
